Of course this is not known. However, my feeling is that most peacock spiders have now been discovered, the period of rapid discovery is over and from now on few new ones will be found. The reason for my belief is that now many people are searching for them, and they keep finding the same species over and over again. If we hadn’t found most of them by now new ones would turn up in my opinion at a higher rate. Having said that, I am also convinced that definitely some more are out there. We know that some species, for example Maratus sceletus, occupy a distinct habitat that has been little surveyed, or they have been found only in a single location. Since it is impossible to survey the entire continent and to check out every potential habitat, it is very very likely that quite a few species escaped our gazes.
