On 26 September 2025 Jurgen Otto and David Hill described two new species in the linnaei group, both close relatives of Maratus candens in Peckhamia 341.1. The two new species were named Maratus kwenda and Maratus nannup. Maratus kwenda was discovered by James McMulkin and its name is a reference to the bandicoot, a local marsupial. People may see the outline of its face on the back of this spider. Maratus nannup is named after the town of Nannup where all individuals were found so far. The Peckhamia publication describes in their courtship display in detail.
